I spent all day playing kid shows, and it was interesting how much the band march section hurts versus the orchestra marches. I can play the 3rd mvmt from Tchaik 6 all day, but why did the thunderer hurt so much. Well I spent the rest of the day writing out my warm ups for my current and future students. Its really easy to play a daily routine from memory, but a different story to write it out. But for those of you interested my daily routine will be posted by dec. I bet you all can't wait, I know a couple of my Kiwi mates will enjoy them. Add Comment Today was our first day of rehearsal for Mahler 2 in the Tabernacle. It was my first time inside, pretty cool place to play. The choir is great! It's also fun to play with Jim Nova - he's playing 3rd this week and sounds awesome as usual! Thanks to everyone for all the recent e-mails/facebook/texts - sorry if I haven't gotten back to you, but your comments are very appreciated! I have been busy preparing for my audition this weekend for the Vancouver Symphony. I'm happy to announce that the hard work paid off as I was awarded the Principal Trombone job! The audition was well-organized, to the point, and efficiently run. I enjoyed seeing some familiar faces and meeting some new trombone players. Vancouver is really gearing up for the olympics, wish I could be there earlier to experience it. Thanks to Bob Kastner for yummy sushi suggestions on my first night there. The city is beautiful and my family and I can't wait to learn more about it! Thank you Bill Z, Rusty M, Larry Z, Craig M, Bob T, and Charlie R for listening to my mock auditions and not mocking me!! Just started the season with the Utah Symphony/Opera. Moving was tricky, but we're finally in our beautiful house and have all of our furniture. We've already played Beethoven 5, Brahms 2, La Valse, and Macbeth in the last two weeks! Whew! I was also happy to connect with an old private student from Virginia who is now studying at BYU, he sounds great! I can't wait to continue working with him. More later... |
